This was an experiment in ‘peak shine’ - how to get the shiniest combinations of shapes and mediums. I chose the good old … new … pattern of the Cairo pentagonal tiling but gave it a twist as pointyhat says.
I like the weave effect, although the crossings are not quite right. Maybe just a proper alternating, as with other weaves?
Yes it is actually shiny, although this is hard to see from a photo (or from my rubbish photos, at least!). Here it is from another nagle:
Pretty shiny, I would say. Honestly the gum arabic makes little difference with black.
