For a change of pace, tried out a simple experiment in multiple layers of varnish and colour - in other words, different level patches at the same level. Ok that doesn’t explain at all. Never mind.
This is what it looks like:
The original lines painted directly on the gesso were yellow and red, then some varnish, then more green and blue layers. Anyway, the final result looks quite nice - especially against the orange wood :) - for such a quick design. Often the case, really, that if you just go for it, it can work out.
Incidentally, I think I was watching DanDaDan at the time? Might be relevant.
