Not alien, not skin

Indeed. The end result did look a little like the patterns you get on skin (reaction-diffusion patterns I suppose - ask Turing). Just a simple triangular grid. Also because of the colours, it’s a little alien.

Anyway the process here was to put black ink dots directly onto paper. These spread out a bit, and then I think I put varnish straight on top of that. Then blue ink, more varnish, then green (or v.v.) then a final varnish layer. The end result is rather shiny!

The spreading of the black dots is also heightened by the varnish, which is interesting to note that varnish will to some extent dissolve the paint underneath. Not sure how useful that comes in, but it might be. The end result is very nice, though and I wonder if I should do it on a larger scale …
