I like to give paintings funny titles, ok? Anyway I was playing around with transparency of acrylic areas and came up with this slightly odd one:
I was trying for a 3-dimensional effect with these different shapes, partly through overlap of the semi-transparent shapes and partly from the pencil lines. No medium was used - I could have used aquapasto for example - but I don’t know if that would have made much difference.
The crowded, yet gap-filled space is quite good I suppose. As well as the mixture of different sizes and shapes.
It does occur to me now that maybe I could make something similar with just circles, looking like a sphere representation of the packed interior of a protein structure. Possibly with lines showing sticks (that is, the bonds) in pencil?
