I’ve been wanting to do this for a while. The prototype was described back in this post as leaves on the ‘Spectre’ monotile (einstein) pattern. I found another interesting post by Simon Tatham, and his exploration of the space of such tilings. In this page he has some examples of ‘walls’ in the generation process that can lead to a symmetry across a border. I’m mangling the explanation, so read his writeup if you want the details.
Anyway, I drew leaves on one half and painted the other half in rose/green greys - so redder and greener greys. Grays? Whatever.
Finally, I painted the leaves in red and green, although I ended up on just green. The half-and-half on the leaves did not look too great.
Oh and I added in some red circles in the gaps. While I’m quite happy with it I do wonder if just a single leaf-per-shape would look better? The small leaves look a little busy. Still, generally good.
