Here the shapes under the blue-green actylic is actually wide uneven grooves cut into the gesso surface. This turns out to not be particularly hard to do, but quite messy. Also of course it looks terrible in photos, but pretty amazing in reality.
Here is a side view that shows some of the shiny and gloopy jelly like nature:
Unlike the other one, this actually looks quite pleasant, and quite fitting to have a shiny jelly-like look to it.
