I see a lot of restaurants using ‘tile walls’ where they put a bunch of different small square tiles with some repetition. I guess this has always been a thing, but using this (multi-)set of tiles gives a nice look. So I set out to reproduce these in minature - actually quite a while ago, but finally I got around to it.
This is what the partly finished piece looks like. It looks ok, although the colours are a bit too pale, and I preferred a more creamy white, so …
Although this was not totally deliberate, the end result (especially once varnished) was a little like porcelain I think. Maybe. A bit if you squint.
Although the geometry is a bit off in places, I’m fairly happy with this one. Perhaps the cream is a bit green from not washing the blue off the brush. Not too sure about the borders either - perhaps too dark? It was pencil covered with the same gloss-blue, but whatever.
