Yes ok it’s a varnished wooden floor. I saw this floor in a coffee shop somewhere, and drew it as it was an interesting pattern of yellow and brown
It’s not obvious but I’ve used some varnish in between the underlying brown/red lines layer and the top yellow layer. Small amounts of varnish when the gouache is still slightly wet gets absorbed slightly.
Then finally, a layer of varnish on top to give it that real polished floor look:
It looks very nice, I think. Real liquid gold look. The brown lines to look like wood mostly work, if a little thicker in places than they could be.
