So I went looking for ‘Lolth symbols’ and found this nice simple design, which seems like it was originally a tatoo? Anyway the basic shape is this:
The spider is in black ink, and the strands (lines) are in silver ink.
Then I shaded in the spaces in between, and painted around the spider in red gouache.
It kind of works, but the strands are maybe too few and too thick? Also the shading is not quite right, and maybe the red should be just on the tips of the spider limbs? Getting there, though.
