I suppose you could consider this a - rather obvious - reference to my heritage. As my mother is from Yorshire, and my father from Scotland … well.
However, I think I just saw a tudor rose and then wanted to draw it in some design. Anyway, I looked around at like 1,000 images online and even watched a video on making one from cardboard (shout out to the youtube channel of ‘Lisa Murphy’ here ). Maybe not necessary, but oh well.
After a lot of fiddling with the design, I finally painted it with just watercolours:
I was really tempted to use brown ink, but I’m still scared of messing up a nice image. Of course, the moment I finished painting I saw loads of problems with the geometry - the size of the central yellow part, the uneveness of the outer petals, etc. I’m pretty pleased with it, though.
