After watching the fourth season of Stranger Things, I liked the stained-glass design on the door of the Creel house (no spoilers, I hope) so much that I tried to reproduce it. All I really had to go on was a couple of screenshots from the episodes it appears in, although thankfully one of those was shown unlit, which gave the outline nicely.
After measuring the dimensions roughly on the screenshot, I sketched out a reproduction in my notebook, based mainly around the central oval and of course the flower.
Which turned out pretty well, so I then sketched it on watercolour paper.
The colours were fixed by the design, so it was just a case of trying to reproduce them as closely as possible. I used transparent watercolours to imitate the stained glass, although that is not going to work perfectly.
It came out pretty nice, I think. The flower especially looks correct, and has a nice colour. I’m less happy with the four ovals around the central one, and some of the pipes look in the wrong place.
Overall, though, I was pleased with the result.
The finished item is on Estsy.
