These are tilings with non-regular tiles. Or ‘quasi periodic’ tilings. Penrose tilings are one example, but an older one is ‘Ghirih tiles’ (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girih_tiles). A set looks a bit like:
Made from thin card. I have not put in the strap-work, which I really should do since ‘girih’ means strap (?)
Sadly my tiles are a little too large to make a nice drawing
I did then paint it (thus the labels on shapes) but it did not look so good.
